Building a Trellis and Bench for Bird Observation

Troop 176

My Eagle Scout Project took place at Station 6 near Tyson Lagoon. Volunteers and myself built an 8-foot tall trellis and a bench over looking the lagoon. When I took the project in August, the construction site was still flat. However, six months and a very rainy season later, the site was overgrown with weeds and a lot of ground had eroded away. The trellis and bench took one weekend to build at approximately 10 hours.

The area before project started.  Building the frame.
Putting the lattice structure for shade.  The finished product, ready for observing birds.

Thanks to Deanna and Daryl Stemm, Joseph Schmitz, Joel Wong, Brian Lee, and Christopher Russett for their help!  Also, a special thanks to Dale Hardware and Hulbert Lumber for donating most of our building supplies
