Planter Boxes in Nursery
by
Justin Juan
Troop 111, Fremont

For my Eagle Project, I designed four planter boxes that would be placed near the gazebo next to the nursery. These planter boxes were designed to hold jasmine plants that would grow onto the gazebo, as well as serve as small benches for younger children. The planter boxes were ultimately 4’x2’ and made of redwood. Another major part of my project was landscaping the area around gazebo – using flagstones, I created paths into and out of the gazebo.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who helped me on my project. I’d like to thank the adults who mentored me and reviewed my proposal were especially helpful and I could not have done it without them. This includes the two Scoutmasters who helped me – Mr. Fong and Mr. Mueller, Mr. Crocker, and Mr. Nygren. I’d also like to thank my parents Minjer Juan and Huiling Chen for helping supervise my project, as well as helping with transportation and obtaining materials. I’m also grateful for all my youth volunteers, fellow Scouts, and friends that showed up to help me: Adrian Jaycox, Calvin Chen, Charles Guan, Erik Su, I-Ling Chiang, Jeremy Pathmanabhan, Jimmy Guo, Joe Chen, Kevin Lau, Mindy Lai, Ryan Foo, Siddarth Sen, Stanley Gu, and Wilson Tam – it would have been impossible to do the work without them. Finally, I’d like to thank Dr. Blueford for giving me the opportunity to do my Eagle Project at Tule Ponds – it was truly a great learning experience for me
