PROBLEM: 
How is electricity and magnetism used to make a motor run?

HYPOTHESIS

MATERIALS: 
Motor module, manual, motor

An electric motor contains three basic parts:  the field magnets; a rotating armature that is an electromagnet; and a commutator which changes the direction of the current in the armature.

Read through the instructions on how to make an electric motor.  Look at the demonstration motor that your teacher has on display.

Go through the parts and try and make a motor.  IT IS DIFFICULT.  If you cannot make one, that is OK.  Key portion of this lab is trying to explain how it works.  Draw a diagram on how you think the motor works below.  This will help you in your conclusion.
