Educational Grant from Alameda County District 1, David Haubert

You are invited to a Luncheon,  to thank Dave Haubert for granting Math Science Nucleus a Vision 2026 grant to work with local schools to create a 3 year program to use the Fremont Earthquake Exhibit with strategies to educate families on  Earthquake and Flood Hazards. See the Fremont Earthquake Exhibit (before or after lunch) which Is next door.  Talk to some of the USGS and Math Science Nucleus scientists.

Over the last million years, the natural beauty of Fremont has been shaped by the Hayward Fault.  The building will be open and Staff from the Math Science Nucleus will be present to answer questions. This fault is one of several active faults in the world actually creeping at 5 mm/year. The exhibit  is at the Community Center in Central Park (Lake Elizabeth) and explores dramatic faulting effects in both natural and urban environments. View the floor of a building that reveals dramatic evidence of this fault activity. You can take a self guided walk through Central Park and find fault features throughout the park.

The exhibit is at the Fremont Community Center (back of the building facing Lake Elizabeth) (40204 Paseo Padre Pkwy - cross street Mission View), located in the heart of Central Park.  You can walk to it from the Fremont BART Station  (about 1/3 mile).
