Time: 11am -12:30pm

You are invited to a lunch-time opening of the Earthquake Hall at the Children's Natural History Museum.  See the updated " Active Trace of the Hayward Fault". This is the product of a grant from Vision 2026 to help public understand about hazards in the East Bay. David Haubert, Supervisor of Alameda County District 1 will officially open our new exhibit on the a giant map of east bay and other information about the fault including 1868 pictures of the 7.0 jolt.   This is an updated map of the USGS map that is at Fremont Earthquake Exhibit  and now can be viewed on the long hallway in the museum. 

Also view the "Debbie Dome" and see plates move before your eyes. Experience an earthquake on the Wieckowski Widescreen. Museum will be open if you would like to take a quick look.

FREE Public Lecture:  Living in Earthqauke Country -  A View from Above

Time: 7pm-8pm  Come 15 minutes early and look at giant map and find your home, will stay open until 8:30 for a quick look at the museum

Age Group: upper elementary to adult

The Hayward Fault has shaped the east bay.  Uplifting of the entire area has caused our rolling hills and  steep hills.  This lecture will discuss the fault as part of the San Andreas Plate Boundary.  It will outline the creeping nature of the fault in Alameda County. Lecture will discuss the historical aspects of earthquakes along the Hayward Fault with emphasis on trace in Fremont.  Learn about the evidence that you see all over the city.

There will be time to see the map in the New Earthquake Hall as well as other historical pictures.  Please reserve a seat as we are limited to 45 participan
