Oct 21, 2008 was the 140th anniversary of the 1868 Great Quake along the Hayward Fault.  There was up to 6 feet of lateral displacement.  Tule Ponds records some of this devastating quake, which leveled the town of San Leandro.  Fremont's Mission San Jose crumpled from the shaking.

Gates opened at 10:00 am and 4 tours were given. There was short lecture about the Hayward Fault and the evidence of earthquakes found at Tule Ponds.  Visitors walked around the facility to see the Hayward Fault, both the active and inactive traces.   Talk schedule was given by Dr. Joyce Blueford, Geologist, followed by a walk byKatie York.

Over 100 visitors toured the facility.
