CREATING SOUND - LAB

PROBLEM:
How can you measure and compare the different types of frequencies instruments make?

HYPOTHESIS:

MATERIALS:
Flute, bongo drum, violin, frequency meters

  1. Blow through flutes and use a frequency meter to determine the number of waves per second.  Record your information on the data sheet.

  2. Using finger tips, strike the edge and middle of a bongo drum and again measure the wave frequency. Record your information on the data sheet.

  3. Pluck one violin string and measure the frequency.  Record your information.

  4. If other sounds are available record these also.  Your teacher will give you instructions.
