PROBLEM: How can you detect carbon dioxide gas?

PROCEDURE:

LISTEN TO YOUR TEACHER for instructions. After you collect the gas do the following experiments with the gas. Make an apparatus similar to diagram below and do the following:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

1. Light a candle and make a pouring motion over it with the jar of gas. What happens?

 

 

 

2. Why can you pour this gas?

 

 

3. Do the same with the gas obtained from the vinegar and baking soda?

 

4. Record what happens?
